Christina is available to speak to schools, youth groups, book clubs, senior centers, poetry groups, etc. She enjoys sharing what haiku is and challenging her audiences to try to write one or two poems.
On Monday, January 11, 2010, a small group gathered at the West Falmouth Library for a book signing and lecture on haiku by Christina. Nearly everyone walked out with a book. Some of the comments were:
- “I learned a lot about haiku”
- “I didn’t know you had written over 1,000 poems.”
- “This book is gorgeous. What a delight to the eyes as well as to the ears.”
- “I want to order more as gifts. They are beautiful.”
- “A feast for the eyes as well as the heart.”
On Wednesday, January 20, 8:30 a.m., Christina appeared on WCVB TV, Wareham. She was Interviewed on “Your Daily Gumbo” by Paul Chicatelli on the haiku book:”Seasons Rising”. Watch for a book signing date at Books by the Sea at 846 Main St., Osterville and Hearth and Kettle plaza, South Yarmouth. The Dec. 20th book signing was snowed out!!!
Look for a date in late March or early April for local writers gathering and reading at Titcomb’s Book Store, 432 6A, East Sandwich.
“Read Across America” Day was observed at East Falmouth Elementary School on Tuesday, March 3, and Christina was there. She taught a class on haiku in Kathleen Karl’s fourth grade and inspired the children to write their own verses. The verses were later collected and published in a booklet for the students to take home. Christina has taught many classes like this and is available to come to other schools.
